Graduate Women International delivers a panel at WSIS
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is the world¡¯s largest annual event on Information Communications Technology for Development (ICT4Dev) held by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Geneva, Switzerland. Graduate Women International (GWI) hosted a panel on 2 May 2016 at WSIS on Harnessing ICTs for Greater Access to Education for Girls and Women with panelists from Orange Device Group, UNESCO and the University of Geneva. GWI advocates for ICT as a means to increase access to education for girls and women and accelerate uptake of training opportunities in both formal and non-formal education contexts. Please click here to download the GWI WSIS recording. See here for more information on how our education projects work towards gender equality and empowerment of girls and women.

— GWI member news —

GWI member in Uganda is moving forward on Teachers for Rural Futures Project
The Uganda Association of University Women (UAUW) has just completed the community engagement component of the Teachers for Rural Futures Project. This phase is an information – sharing opportunity and a chance for the UAUW project team to interact with community members. It also serves to identify candidates for the next intake of undergraduates. This is a chance to raise awareness on the positive benefits of girls¡¯ completion of secondary education and beyond, and challenges traditional discriminatory norms. Establishing links between the schools, parents and individuals fosters good relations and sustainability of the project. Support us to train more girls as women teachers and encourage more girls in rural areas to complete secondary school.
