Graduate Women International (GWI) calls for abstracts for the GWI 32nd Triennial Conference, Cape Town
Abstracts are invited for the Graduate Women International (GWI) 32nd Triennial Conference taking place 24-25 August 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. The programme, under the theme ¡®At the crossroads of education, gender and human rights¡¯, will focus discussion on four key strands: a) Managing complexity in education b) New technologies and their impact on secondary, tertiary and continuing education c) Human rights and education – from teenager to adult in education and active life, and d) Access to education for girls and women. The event offers exciting opportunities to engage on these critical issues and for international networking. Upload abstracts for seminars and workshops here. Early bird rates are still available!

GWI member events at the 60th Commission on the Status of Women in New York
In a side event at the 60th Commission on the Status of Women the traditional Helvi Sipilä seminar, the Finnish Federation of Graduate Women (FFGW) and Jolie Massay from the Association Congolaise des Femmes Diplomées des Universités (ACOFDU) co-presented on Women, Peace and Security. According to Päivi Kannisto, Chief of the Peace and Security Unit of UN Women, women¡¯s integral participation and representation in decision-making enhances the quality of peace and security work and outcomes – not to mention that it is also a human right. Jolie Massay, from the Congolese Federation of University Women, hopes that in the future all girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo could be given free schooling in order to facilitate their meaningful participation in peace processes.  For a full report, please see here.

Gender Equality Training Resource available from UN Women Training Centre eLearning Campus
The UN Women Training Centre eLearning Campus is a global innovative online platform for training for gender equality.  It is open to everybody interested in using training or learning as a means to advance gender equality, women¡¯s empowerment and women¡¯s rights. The site intends to deliver high quality training for gender equality by offering a diverse range of self-paced, moderated, blended and face-to-face courses, tools and services. Call for applicants for the 10th and 11th Ewha Global Empowerment Programme
The Ewha Global Empowerment Programme (EGEP) is running two sessions, 10th EGEP 10-24 July 2016 and 11th EGEP 6-22 January 2017, under the theme of ¡®Transnational Feminism and Women¡¯s Activism¡¯. It is a two week residential educational programme aiming to promote education for women and gender equality in Asia and Africa by empowering women working in non-governmental public sectors and by nourishing the next generation of women leaders.
